When To Go To Emergency Dentist

When To Go To Emergency Dentist

A dental emergency is an issue involving the teeth and the supporting tissues that are of high importance which is to be treated by a professional. It does not always cause pain but it is a signal that cannot be overlooked. Pain can originate from the tooth or can have the sensation of originating in the teeth. Depending on the type of pain you experience, your dentist can find the cause and the solution to it. Each tissue gives a different message in a dental emergency.

Some people do not know when to go to an emergency dentist. If they are going through pain, they would try to solve it at home and it becomes worse. Here are some situations when you have to go to an emergency dentist:

If You Met With an Accident

Problems from an accident or an injury are regarded as something that might require immediate care. The problem may involve broken teeth or teeth that are knocked out of their place during the accident. It may lead to severe blood loss. If you have an infection related to the blood, it may count as a dental emergency and you may need to visit an emergency dentist.

If Your Face Is Swelled Up

This is one of those emergencies where you need to run to the dentist immediately. Your face swelling up could mean a serious dental infection which needs immediate dental care. It could mean that you have an infected tooth, gum disease or even a bone infection. You need to rush to the doctor immediately if your face is swelled up because these situations do not heal on their own. And by then, drink as many as fluids as you can.

If You Have A Loose Or Knocked Out Permanent Tooth

If you have knocked out a permanent tooth, you may need an implant. It will be better if you can get an implant within an hour of the accident. The faster you get an implant, the better you will feel. You may need a root canal too to get off infections if any. But at least you will have a tooth there. Do not try to solve this situation on your own as you may go wrong and, it may lead to more severe problems.

If You Have A Worn Out Dental Work

You should visit your emergency dentist if you have worn out dental work. If your braces, veneers, bridges, crowns, or any other dental work break or fall off, you should consult your dentist immediately as it may lead to different types of infections. Do not try to solve this by your own or put back the dental work in place.

These are the situations where you need to visit your emergency dentist immediately. Please do not try to solve any of the problems mentioned above on your own as they are serious dental emergencies. If you have doubts, reach out to us and get it cleared.
